I’ve always messed about with wood, early days whittling sticks with a sheath knife. building tree houses and go karts. and now the range of tools has grown just a bit. but still messing about. Saving trees from the fire wood pile and making beautiful sustainable furniture from local timber from the Dart valley.Bills Yard is a small chair makers workshop nestled in the heart of the South Hams.

We pride ourselves on using traditional as well as modern woodworking methods to create hand crafted items for your home.
From chairs and lamps to unique bespoke pieces.
The timber we use comes from trees in and around the Dart valley, most of which were destined for firewood.
With the belief that each tree tells a story in its grain as to where and how it grew, we select the right wood for the right task.
With collaborating with professional tree surgeons and landowners and milling the timber ourselves we offer a tree to home service.
From picking the right board from out wood library working through the stages of milling, shaping, jointing and finishing each step is carried out with care and attention.
