We Make

Early Access

As makers and appreciators of handcraft, we’ve found that the big platforms fall short. It’s not that they’re lacking features but rather that our visions don’t align.

So, we’re building our own platform for sharing and discovery, for connection and promotion. And, we’re offering early access to a limited number of makers and appreciators while we refine the initial experience.

Why early access?

From the beginning we’ve been clear that this new platform should serve all makers: beginners and masters, hobbyists and full-time professionals.

However, we also recognize that we can’t serve everyone equally. Of course, no platform can but in a community-oriented space that has a different feel. And, as a very small team, it’s even more critical that we focus our attention.

Additionally, we’re asking for input from our community and while we want a diverse range of responses we need to focus on comments from people who clearly take their work seriously.

So, we’re choosing to target makers who appear to be committed to growth in their craft. It’s a subjective measure but seeing how someone (or a small collective) presents themselves and their work does give insight into their vision for the making act as well as their intention for sharing their work in the world.

What’s included in early access

We’re in the process of building a lot of features and experiences that serve us as makers. Early Access members get to use the site as all of those are taking shape.

Everything should work well but being an early access member does mean that you’re more likely to hit snags as we develop and refine new tools and experiences. In the process, we want to hear from the community—makers and appreciators—about the things that are working well and the things that need attention sooner rather than later. 😉

Do you have feedback?

Do you have thoughts about the Early Access approach? Or, as an Early Access member do you have things you want to share? One of the features of early access is that anyone can use our contact form to write directly to our co-founder, Ephrem Hernandez. If you have a lot to say, you could even request a video call. We’d genuinely like to hear from you.
